Steven Paul is a rising photographer in the New York fashion scene. In his first two-and-a-half years, his work appeared in no less than 14 industry magazines, and he has worked with top modeling agencies, as well as top professionals in the industry.
Steven Paul knew from the start that he wanted to photograph people, not places or things. Even in the beginning when he had little training, his work stood out and literally stunned people into silence.
"It was then that I knew I wanted to continue on this journey," says Paul. "I knew I wanted to continue capturing thought provoking imagery.Â
"I'm just a down-to-earth guy who came to photography," says Paul. It's rare to meet someone with so humble an attitude in the NYC fashion industry--and just as rare to meet someone who's come so far in such a short time.
But it's not all inside his head. Paul brings his vision to the studio, then chooses to interact with his environment organically. He brings a vision to the studio, which is then solidified by the fashion, make-up, creative experiments with lighting--and the model herself.
Paul feels that a shoot is ultimately about working with energy and mood when it comes to a shoot. He works in conjunction with his models to modify, expand on, sculpt, and ultimately solidify his vision into a work of art that is impossible to achieve for photographers who are primarily concerned with lighting and lenses.
Working with top professionals in the fashion industry, is a lifetime goal for many. Yet for Steven Paul, it is only the beginning. He considers his journey far from over.
"I have visions in my head of what I want to produce. I hope people will enjoy my work now and in the future. I believe there really are no limits to where this will end."
